Scientists Urges To Re-think About Face Masks As COVID-19 Cases In Sweden Rise

Sales of face masks are climbing in Sweden….

The Royal Academy of Sciences said on Tuesday that face masks could play a role in reducing infection and urged Sweden politicians to rethink their decision not to recommend their citizens the use of face masks amid a second wave of infections.

Obviously, Sweden's previous soft-touch pandemic response had not prevented the increasingly spread of the virus and new cases of the virus recently hitting record levels. Hence, the country has taken tough measures to control this climb in covid-19 cases by reducing public gathering maximum up to eight people.

Certain Reports claim that Face Masks provides pseudo sense of being completely secure from the virus infection and people do not think about to avoid unnecessary social gatherings, which may have been one of the bigger reason of significant rise in covid-19 cases in Sweden and in other part of the world.

"I hope there is now a debate and leaders, irrespective of what the public health authority is saying, will take this to heart," Staffan Normark, Head of the Academy's expert group on Covid-19, said.

Nowadays, pharmacy Apotea report that the businesses of face masks grows faster with sales up 360% in November compared to October. This is because of Lack of enough knowledge that face masks or sanitizers is not the only thing which will keep them secured, social distancing (also to some extent community doesn’t have good understanding of this term) is much more important thing to be followed strictly. Also the failure of perfect implementation of a strategy to control the spread of infection in the beginning and middle of the pandemic which caused the situation to get worsen more.

As of now when we are very much near to get a good, effective and reliable vaccine let us hope to get over this and wish everyone healthy safe life. In India approximately around one crore front-line healthcare workers have been identified to receive the vaccine in first phase of vaccination for covid-19.
