Government of India has now allowed Post graduate doctors of Ayurveda to practice legally in the field of General surgery with ENT, orthopedics and dentistry.
The central government of India has made an amendment to the Indian medicine central council regulations (IMCCR), 2016 for the introduction of these mentioned specialities curriculum for PG courses of "Shalya" and "Shalakya" Specializations of Ayurveda and will be issued titles of MS(Ayurveda) Shalya Tantra for General Surgery and MS (Ayurveda) Shalakya Tantra for ENT, Ortho and Dentistry.
Hence, The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has openly opposed this constant policy change by the Government Of India and demanded to withdrawal of the notification of amendment regulations of postgraduate Ayurveda Education. National President of IMA, DR. Rajat Sharma said that this integration of systems of medicine would creat "Khichdi Medical System" and produce the "Hybrid Doctors". The apex body of private practitioners of modern medicine had called it as "Cocktail of disaster" condemning central government bringing in it's "One Nation One System" policy in to the medical field.
