Covid-19 Vaccination Currently Halted In Guangzhou Amid Recent Virus Outbreak

Covid-19 vaccination drive has been put on hold in guangzhou city in china amid recent viral outbreak. Individual vaccination has been halted in the city so that more focus can be given to the testing of the community.

Vice mayor of the city Li Ming in a press conference said that "the rise in covid-19  has made it necessary to concentrate energy  resources on nucleic acid testing  adjust the speed of the vaccination drive".


As locals were rushing to get the vaccine shots during the spike in the infection rates cancellation of the vaccination appointments was necessary to reduce the further spread of the virus.

Shanghai based vaccine expert Tao Lina said that this decision to prioritize the testing to stop virus spread is not surprising because vaccines take more time to be effective crowding at the vaccination centers can increase the spread of the virus.

Vaccination is being prioritized for the industries and key groups of the city. Individual vaccination will resume after the outbreak will be over.

City has reported total 42 cases of locally transmitted corona virus including 34 confirmed cases and eight asymptomatic cases. However, China does not include asymptomatic cases  countries national tally of Covid-19.

The city has already put the travel and negative nucleic acid test reports are must for the people leaving the city via public transportation.
